Outfit Of The Night ~ Halloween '14

Happy Halloween Fools

Thought I would do a slightly different OOTN post for you, I recently went to a Halloween Party at one of my closest friends houses and I was pretty impressed with my costume...so why not share it with you guys?!?

The 'party' was a Sixth Form bonding session really, (for those of you who don't know, Sixth Form is a term used in England for the final two years of school before University), the dress code being 'fancy dress' of course.

Now, I didn't fancy doing the standard black cat costume (yes we've all been there and done that!) so instead, I went for the slightly more creepy but still fairly normal choice of a doll outfit.

To create this look, I decided to focus on my make-up rather than the outfit I was actually wearing.

I used fake eyelashes as well as some black out contacts both of which I ordered online for a reasonable price!

For all of the other make-up I just used some eye-shadow  I already had to create a dark smokey eye look. A white pencil eyeliner on my waterline and below it to create the effect of wider 'doll eyes' and a dark lipstick. All of the 'stitches' on my face and neck I drew on using a black liquid eye liner.

To get some inspiration for this look I watched many You Tube videos of 'Creepy Doll Make-Up' before I did my own, but the end result was my own version of those I had watched previously.

For my outfit I wore a pirates dress I already had at home as well as some black over the knee socks and black wedges (side note: my feet have been basically destroyed after wearing the wedges for the whole night, but hey, no pain no gain!)

I hope anyone reading enjoyed this post, and if anyone else would like to share their own Halloween costumes then leave a picture or link in the comments and I will be sure to check them out!!

Boots & Superdrug Haul ~ October '14

Once again I have been absolutely pathetic at posting blogs on a regular basis...when will I learn?!?

But I'm back with a little haul for you :)

A few weeks back I checked my bank account and was extremely surprised when I had been landed with a cheeky bit of holiday pay from work...so what was the first thing I did? INTERNET SHOPPING of course!!!

I wanted to wait a little while before I posted this so I could use the products I had bought and give you a bit of feedback.

Enjoy :) :) :)

Is anyone else as obsessed with Soap and Glory as I am? I think the thing I love most about these shower gels is the fact they are pretty huge in comparison to most shower gels you can buy. Bonus for those who like to save the pennies, they last so much longer and in my opinion are way more cost effective (quick tip: if you use a shower poof you don't have to use as much of the product and it lathers really well!)

With regards to the four scents I bought, I was actually pretty disappointed with two of them.
Sugar Crush is by far my favourite (recommended by Zoella), I also really liked the scent of Foamous which smells very sweet and sugary, kind of like something you would buy in a bakery.
For me I was really disappointed with the smell of Orangeasm, I was most excited to try this one but I actually really don't like the smell. Those of you who have tried it, I don't know if you agree but I think it smells like bathroom cleaner. The Clean Girls scent, isn't awful but once again wasn't as great as I had hoped, it might just be me but all I can smell is PVA glue!

I also decided to restock on my body sprays, I had bought the 'Mist You Madly' scent previously and believe its the perfect fragrance to keep in your handbag (mines in my school bag) just in case you need to use it on the move.
The second bottle is a spray on moisturizer, I actually didn't realise this until I used it. (packaging can be very deceiving) But this is a lovely product and useful for lazy people like me who cant be bothered to moisturize like any normal person would!

First of all I would just like to applaud Zoella on her incredible new range, not even biased this stuff is amazing! I think out of the three products I bought my favourite is the Fizz Bar, no word of a lie the scent is incredible and once it was in the bath my whole bathroom smelt of it for the next hour.

I haven't actually managed to try out the two face washes yet but I can assure you, they smell very nice. I was drawn to these face washes in particular because of the tea tree element in them, to cut a long story short I have problematic skin so anything that could help is a bonus to me.

The final two items I bought were two moisturizers, one for day and the other for night. I have been using these for around two weeks now and wow I can definitely say I can see a difference in my skin. It feels so much softer and generally nicer than before as well as feeling hydrated for a longer period of time, another bonus is that the day cream has SPF 15 which protects your skin against sun damage (bonus!) All round these two creams are perfect for those on a budget but still want something to use that is worthwhile.

Outfit Of The Night ~ September '14

Cheeky Midweek post coming your way....

Hello to you people reading this...before you think I have gone crazy. Yes I am aware it is halfway into October and this post says September. F*ck Logic Guys okay?!?

Most people will do an OOTD post, but as always I don't stick to the norm, I like to switch it up a bit. Also my 'day clothes' are usually: school uniform, work uniform or pyjamas. So I'm not too sure you'll actually want to see that, so an outfit of the night is probably more appropriate here.

On this occasion I was just going out for a curry. (I actually hate curry, but my family and friends love it) Generally if I go out I will always wear a pair of skinny jeans, but on this night for some reason I decided to push the boat out a tiny amount and wear a simple black skirt (I'm Crazy I know!)

I also opted for a simple cropped t-shirt, tights and some form of trainer/wedge things. I am completely in love with this t-shirt, I have worn it quite a bit since I bought it a few weeks ago. Its perfect for me because it is cropped but not so it shows my belly, but also it is a fairly 'boxy' shape which is a bonus for me because I am a big fan of baggier tops. I actually bought this in a UK size 12, although I am a size 8-10, purely because of the fact I like my t-shirts a bit baggier and also cropped because I am pretty short and so longer T-shirts don't really suit me.

So I didn't actually manage to get any 'decent photos' but here are a few that I did take...hope you enjoy :)

T-Shirt ~ £10 BANK
Black Skirt ~ £8 Matalan
High Top Shoes ~ £40 River Island
So you can't see very well but I did my make-up using cranberry eye-shadow shades. Maybe one day I will do it again and post a picture...possibly.

I also wore my beloved Studded Leather Jacket, because in England it is cold and wearing a jacket is the best option if you want to avoid hypothermia. Almost anyone who knows me will agree that I wear this jacket almost all of the time, it is quite a few years old now but has lasted really well considering it is not real leather.

Thank You for Reading :)

I Recommend ~ Music ~ I

I intended to post this on Sunday, but I forgot -_-

Anyways....Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening...It could be any point of the day which you are reading this so I've now covered them all :)

NEW IDEA ALERT

Instead of doing a monthly favourites kind of thing, I have decided to do a semi-regular post called 'I recommend'

First reason for this is that basically I don't think I am mentally capable of putting together a list of things I have enjoyed over a month, also I  may find it hard to do one every month due to other commitments so I didn't want to dedicate myself to doing a 'Monthly Favourites'

Instead you may just see a random blog post pop up here and there if I am particularly enjoying something at that moment in time. This could be in the form of: music, films, books, make-up, clothes or even food. (There will most probably be an item of food on a regular basis.)

So lets start off with a particular artist//new album that has been released recently. This is the band Lower Than Atlantis, with their album Lower Than Atlantis (no that wasn't a typo, they obviously just ran out of ideas for album names or enjoyed their band name quite a lot)

This album is AMAZING, I understand that this type of music isn't to everyone's taste but you should probably listen to it anyway....just in case. They are a British 'post hardcore, alternative rock band with roots in the punk scene.'

Personal favourite songs from the album: Here We Go, English Kids in America & Emily.

I hope that you enjoy this style of blog post...as always I am open to any suggestions//comments you may have :)

Project 3580 Sierra Leone 2014 ~ The Photos Which Speak A Million Words

As promised here's a slightly different blog post for you.

Ebola is a epidemic which is sweeping Sierra Leone among other places, no doubt you'll have heard about the disease on the news. Yesterday we received the horrific news that ebola has now spread into the Kissi town refugee camp, putting our friends at extremely high risk. Conditions are harsh, there is not enough money for the medical equipment needed. The camp's clinic is under extreme pressure to keep the people of the camp alive, and it needs fuel in order for the generator to work. Lives are being lost both from the Ebola but also starvation due to the lack of food available.

If anyone reading this is able to donate any amount of money to a charity which is extremely close to my heart, any donations will be greatly appreciated no matter how big or small. Please share this to spread the awareness and help our friends out in Sierra Leone who are currently facing life threatening situations.

Or TEXT: EBLA80 and £3/5 or £10 to 70070

Around Christmas time last year, I made one of the most amazing decision of my life. One thatI will never forget and has completely changed my life forever.

Travelling over 3 thousand miles with 21 other people (only 3 of which I had met previously) to a country devastated by an eleven year civil war and currently ranked the poorest country in the world, was definitely the most nerve racking experience of my life. (Oh did I mention the fact I am also pretty sh*t scared of flying!)

I decided to make this a ‘photo based’ blog post. In this sense…the photos do speak a million words.

It’s funny because when you watch programmes such as Comic Relief where the celebrities go to some of the worst places in the world, you don’t really believe that people live like that. (I didn’t used to believe it myself) But from experiencing it first hand, I can confirm that everything you see is real life and it is still happening today in the modern world.

The most remarkable thing about the people living in these places is their happiness. It makes me question how these people can be so happy, when they simply have nothing. The answer to this is that they know no different.

Simple things that we take for granted such as clothes are a luxury to them, children walk around barely clothed wearing ripped t-shirts, clothes which are too small for them, in the worst condition.

The children don’t own shoes, they walk around bare footed. Why? Because they've never had shoes.

The girls I met, only ever took one thing from me. One simple thing that is seen as a ‘necessity’ to most of us and most of you reading this. Hair bobbles, Hair ties, hair elastics, whatever you call them, that’s all they wanted from me. Every day I would leave our accommodation with a bobble around my wrist and without a doubt I would return from the school with an empty wrist.

Moral of the story? Well there are many different things I could say, but I’m not going to say anything. I shall leave that for you…yes you the person reading this right now. You take this blog post, however you feel necessary. I've put my point across.

Whoops

Quick apology for the lack of any kind of effort in this blog, I promise you that I will get better its just that at the moment my life is pretty hectic with sixth-form and blah blah blah. (Yep all that boring stuff)

But I actually have a solution for you, if I don't post anything on a regular basis you should go and check out one of my best friends blog instead. Shes better than me at it, in fact you should probably just read both of our blogs :) Problem solved!

http://indecisivejess.blogspot.co.uk/

I have little something for you to read for the moment now though, I found this in my 'secret files' on my laptop. Thought it might be some good advice to share with you guys, especially as I know that many of you may struggle with things such as self confidence.

As most teenage girls do, I was having an 'ugly day' one of those days when you look at yourself and you just wonder why.
why my hair looks this way...
why are my spots showing...
why does this top look like this on me...
WHY DON'T I LOOK LIKE HER? (INSERT PERSON OF CHOICE HERE)

Yes..have no fear everyone has those days.

Hope it helps :)

What is Perfection?

‘the state or quality of being perfect

It only hit me recently that the word ‘perfect’ actually has no set definition. Or at least a definition that everyone agrees on, each person’s definition of ‘perfection’ is different.

In terms of a ‘perfect life’ for some it may be having a good job, earning money.
For others: getting married, having children, being surrounded by those who love you.

Being a teenage girl myself: having a ‘perfect body’ for some this may be  tanned and curvy but for others pale and slim

So here's the thing, when you feel down. Maybe you are looking at yourself in the mirror, questioning why you look 'ugly' or why you don't look like someone else.

Ask yourself this:
Am I trying to be other people’s version of ‘perfection’?
