Taking Time Out ~ Bournemouth ~ Lifestyle

Sometimes you need to completely shut yourself off from the outside world, social media and those who make you feel crap.

Wow that got quite intense rather quickly, hi guys who is  ready to start 2015, because I know I am.

So the festive period is over and in all honesty I'm glad about that, I love spending time with my family but this year it all felt forced and like it was happening because it had to rather than because people wanted to. But I really hope that everyone reading this had a fabulous few days over Christmas.

On Boxing Day this year myself along with parents and younger sister went down to Bournemouth for a few nights. This was not only pushing away from our general traditions of going to my uncles on Boxing Day but also meant personally I had time to 'clear my head' for a few days.
For those of you who don't perhaps live in the UK, Bournemouth is a city on the South Coast of England and also is actually one of the places I've received a university offer from. It's also the place I met one of my best friends Jess at New Year,  ten years ago. (Check out her Blog here)

Whilst down in Bournemouth I managed to completely relax with my family, this actually involved me turning off my internet on my phone for the majority of the time I was there. This not only allowed me to have quality time with my family, but also meant I had time to sit and do non internet activities like reading my book (it was actually extremely beneficial to my brain).

Luckily for you guys, I also had time to take a few photos so hopefully there will be a few more Outfit/Hair/Make-up related posts up soon for you!

I am going to attempt to do a summary of 2014 although this seems unlikely it will be posted before 2015 starts as I have some fairly elaborate plans for New Year this year. But hopefully the post will be uploaded in the early days of 2015 but for now though guys I want to wish you all a very safe and happy 2015 and I shall leave you with a few more photos I took whilst down in Bournemouth.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Ho Ho Ho,

So yes, it seems like its that time of year again. But how may I ask?

Has this year gone quicker than any other year, or is it just because I'm getting older? Or is time actually going quicker these days? Some one please enlighten me because I'm confused!

This blog post actually has no direction, (North, South, East, West, Up, Down. None)
I literally just planned to 'write something festive', but I'm going to be honest here. This year, I have found it EXTREMELY difficult to actually get in a Christmassy mood, now this is very unlike me because usually at this point I am bouncing off the walls I am that excited for Christmas to come around. I am the hugest child ever, but not this year. I'm just not feeling it like I usually do.

But anyways, I'm not going to drag everyone who may be reading this down because I'm not feeling the festive spirit. I wanted to write a post to give some ideas of what I will be doing over this festive period and New Year, including what you could possibly see in the future from me with regards to my Blog.

I have a few Christmas parties and Birthdays of friends coming up over the next few weeks and more than likely will do a few OTTN's for you. (I really hope you like them, because they seem to be my most popular thing to post)

I also wanted to do a few posts on the Christmas gifts I received this year, I've actually asked for clothes mainly this year which I have been out and chosen with my mum. So I may attempt to do some kind of styling post on those.

I may also attempt to do some kind of 'favourites' post towards the end of the year to sum up some of my favourite things in 2014, this may also incorporate events and things I did but I will have to think about that a bit more and get back to you.

So, now I have finished rambling I just wanted to end this post by saying thank you all so much for reading this post and also a huge thanks if you are a regular visitor to my blog. I want to wish every single one of you a very merry Christmas. Eat lots, drink and be merry (If you are of the legal age of course!) and stay safe what ever you do :)

As ever, comments and suggestions are welcomed. Please let me know if there are any particular posts you want to see in the future and I will do my best to grant your wishes.

Merry Christmas!

Positive Vibes ~ Lifestyle

Its me again,

I do have to applaud myself once again for being on a roll with this blog, I seem to be writing and posting on a regular basis which its fabulous!

So today's post I wanted to make a bit more of a lifestyle one as recently I have been doing a lot of fashion and OOTN's. This idea sprung to mind when searching for a Christmas present for one of my closest friends.

It's really difficult for anyone to see a close friend or family member being upset and struggling to be happy because of various reasons, it's happened to me before on numerous occasions and recently happened again to one of my closest friends, it's hard. These are the times when family and friends are needed the most, not only as someone to talk to when they're feeling low, but also as someone to stand by them when they are feeling happy too.

So for my friend's Christmas present I decided to buy her a trinket box, the idea behind it being that in this box she stores all of her happiest memories (Pictures, notes, tickets etc.) Then when she's feeling unhappy or just needs a 'pick me up' she can look back through this box and hopefully she feels better.

I have one of these boxes myself..well its a shoe box which I stuck paper all over but it does the same job. Honestly, it really does help and often when I'm having a bad day or just want to remember things that I've done in the past.

So for any of you out there who have bad days or need a thoughtful gift idea for anyone, here it is. You can get any kind of box from anywhere, whether it be like the one I bought my friend, one you've decorated yourself or one you've made, it really doesn't matter because in this situation it really is the thought that counts.

Thanks once again for reading, I should have one more post up before Christmas comes around so stay posted for that one :)

What a let down ~ Product Review

I'm pretty sure that every single one of you reading this has either tried or heard of the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Its a beauty favourite in the blogging/vlogging world...and I have to say I have also fallen into the trap of being obsessed with it. Its incredible and I don't see how I could live without it.

Unfortunately though..I can't say the same thing for the foundation version of the concealer, when I ran out of my current foundation (Rimmel Lasting Finish - which I love!) I decided to give the collection foundation a try..I loved the concealer, why not? It seemed obvious!

I was so disappointed with this product for a number of reasons, firstly I found it really difficult to apply, it is a very watery foundation. One layer of it would simply soak straight into my skin making no difference to my natural skin, but once you applied a second it would go extremely cakey and look very orange. The one time I did wear this foundation all day, it felt cakey on my face all day and this sounds ridiculous but I could feel like I was wearing foundation. I knew it was there and it just made me feel uncomfortable.
Lasting Perfection Foundation - £5.99 - Shade 2 Ivory
Lasting Perfection Concealer - £4.19 - Shade 1 Fair

So yes, not very impressed with this product. Which is extremely weird as the concealer is a staple product for me!

I would love to hear if any of you have tried this product and what you think about it, also if anyone has any foundation recommendations that would be amazing! So please leave me a comment!

Sleek Eye-Shadow Palette - Recent Purchases

Slight lie within the title of this post, as I didn't actually but this product myself. It was bought for me as my Secret Santa present at school. But it is something that I would personally buy and someone did buy it. Just not me!

Sleek eye-shadows are one of those things that are always talked about and generally have pretty good reviews, including the fact they are extremely affordable. I've actually thought many times about trying out one of their 'i-Divine' palettes, but just never got round to it..so when I opened my Secret Santa present and saw this I was SO excited!
This particular palette is the 'Garden of Eden Palette' and contains earthy colours mainly varying shades of brown and green. I believe this palette retails for £7.99 at Superdrug, so is incredibly affordable and would be a lovely stocking filler or present this Christmas!
Personally, if I was buying a Sleek palette myself, I would have bought one which contained more neutral colours as that is what I wear on a day to day basis. But saying that, this particular palette has some lovely colours in and all fairly wearable! They are also super pigmented and I am in love with all of the shimmery shades!
I think my favourite colours in this palette are - Fig, Evergreen and Fauna.
But personally I will get the most wear out of are - Python and Entwined.
These swatches show the eye-shadows in the exact order they appear in the palette, there are seven shimmery shades and four without shimmer.

If anyone has tried any of the other Sleek Palettes please let me know which one is your favourite as I will definitely be looking to purchase another one in the near future! Thanks once again for reading.

Outfit Of The Night ~ Out Of My Comfort Zone...James Bond Style

I'm actually pretty impressed with myself recently I've actually become a regular at wring these blog posts *high fives myself*

But Beth...what's your secret?
Well...I actually write them in advance..but shh don't tell anyone. Rather than writing one a time, I will actually write two or three at once. But that's our little secret!

So, James Bond. Extremely famous films, new film coming out in the near future. Skyfall was a huge hit and actually the only film I've seen but still amazing. James Bond was also the theme for one of my best friends surprise 18th recently.

I thought I would share the outfit I wore to this occasion, not only because I loved it. But also because I definitely pushed my boundaries with my choice of outfit, I stepped out of my comfort zone and I'm proud of myself for doing that.

My Dress - Nicole X Low Back Strappy Midi Dress - Red - Miss Guided - £25
I will leave the link to it here
Then I wore some black wedges I've had for years from New Look, with some black socks because my feet are always freezing!

The Party was held at a place called 'Hannah's Habitat' which is a converted stables opposite my friends house where the majority of the year groups parties are held. It was decorated James Bond style and looked amazing!
This is the moment when the birthday girl herself was greeted by the whole Sixth Form, she had absolutely no idea and it's written all over her face. The second girl in the photo is her younger sister who organised the whole night, so round of applause to Amber for organising an incredible night!

Just thought I would include a few pictures of myself and my closest friends, everyone was dressed incredibly glamorously as the theme would suggest :)

Thank You to everyone who read this blog post, as always I am open to any comments and suggestions.

Outfit Of The Day ~ Christmas Shopping

Its that time of year again, the time of year where everyone goes insane (including me) Yes. IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS! So to those observent ones of you, this is actually an OOTD rather than an OOTN, because I actually left my house in the day and did something productive! *SHOCK HORROR*

I am the biggest kid of them all and Christmas is by far my favourite time of year, I love spending time with my family and friends, eating lots, going out to parties and generally just everyone being a lot happier! So to get into the festive spirit I thought I would share with you the outfit I was wearing when I went Christmas shopping the other day.

Got some cringey pictures going on right here!

T-Shirt ~ £10 Bank
Jeans ~ £22.99 New Look
Scarf ~ £5 Primark
Boots ~ £20 Ebay

I also wore my green parka jacket over the top so I didn't freeze to death, I didn't take a picture of it but I will leave a link here.

Thanks once again for reading, hope you all have a lovely December :)

Outfit Of The Night ~ Ripped Jeans and T-Shirts

Where has Beth been all this time?
Absolutely no where.

Yes, I am still alive.(Just about)

I'm back with another OOTN for you lovely lot today, so enjoy :)

Generally, I will always wear clothes for comfort rather than style and nine times out of ten I will be wearing a pair of skinny jeans with an over sized T-Shirt...that's just how I roll..

On this particular occasion, I had some of my friends round at mine for a small informal 'gathering', nothing too fancy but not the type of thing where it is okay to wear your comfies! (Jogging bottoms/PJ's)

My little tip for those people like me who want to look like they've put in more effort than they have is to concentrate on your hair and make-up and then just wear whatever you feel comfortable in. I do it all of the time, no jokes here.

I always find myself doing the same kind of make-up look and this night was no different, I used darker eye shadows on the outer corners of my eyes, I'm not really sure how to describe what I do...but this is the end result!

I also wore my Barry M Black Cherry Lipstick which I mentioned in a previous post, I don't have a very wide range of lipsticks because I don't ever really wear them, but I always find myself reaching for this one for some reason.

As you've probably gathered by now, I have extremely curly hair and so my hair looks something like this on a daily basis. But this day I had been wearing french plaits all day so when I took it out the curls were looser than the usual ringlets I have, I then twisted and pinned back some pieces of hair back either side of my head and voila.

Thanks you so much to everyone who reads these posts, as ever any comments/suggestions are welcomed :)

My Hair ~ A Curse Or A Blessing

Hi. My name's Beth and I have insane hair.

Another cheeky mid-week post, coming your way...NOW :)

Anyone who knows me in person, or who has met me before undoubtedly will know me for my hair I have more times than I care to remember been referred to as 'the one with curly hair'

But, without a doubt the two questions I get asked ALL THE TIME are..

Do you like your hair? & Is it natural?

In answer to the first, yes. I do like my hair although on occasions it becomes RIDICULOUS to manage and looks like a birds nest.

In answer to the second, yes. 'Baby I was born this way'

Sometimes though, I do laugh when people ask if my hair is natural...like seriously think about it. Do you think I have the time to curl each individual piece every morning?
No. No I don't.

It was funny because I was at work the other day and one of the customers started randomly talking to me about my hair. I won't lie, my hair does get me a great deal of attention, but I was wearing french plaits so how she knew I had curly hair I will never know!

The point of mentioning this woman and kind of the whole point of the post is to make those of you who don't have curly hair aware that curly hair is in no way, shape or form the 'easy way out' or is 'easy to manage' its not!

The only thing that is a bonus about curly hair is that in the mornings I can shower, brush my hair and then leave it to dry and it will dry exactly how you see it in the pictures. I don't necessarily use any 'fancy' products just a detangling spray and some kind of hair oil, but that is only because generally my hair can get quite dry and knotty.

Now I also wanted to mention the fact that, its not easy having curly hair.(well it's okay now, but it wasn't) Not at all. When I was younger, I was bullied pretty badly for a large period of my life. It's so stupid because I was bullied because I had curly hair, back then I wasn't considered 'normal' by the other girls because I didn't have long hair like them. In fact I had the complete opposite, my hair was extremely short and curly, (I basically looked like a boy) I couldn't plait my hair, I couldn't tie it up in pretty ribbons or have different hairstyles because it was too short.

That's me on the left at the age of seven, the curly hair has been around from the start.

So things to take away from this post:

Number One - If you have curly hair, then be thankful. Don't hate it, but don't worry I do understand what its like.

Number Two - To anyone who enjoys taking the p*ss out of people with curly hair, don't.

Number Three - Embrace your hair no matter what it's like

Thanks for reading guys :)

I'm An Odd Sock Wearer ~ Lifestyle

Hey Odd Socks,

So, I am aware that the title of this post is slightly weird one. But I suppose it really does relect the whole idea and concept of this post.

One of the aims of my blog was to give some form of 'advice' to those who read it. (*Disclaimer*  I am in no way, shape or form an expert on this)

Now, I actually take the title of this post literally on a daily basis. Generally I wear odd socks more often than I wear matching ones...why? Well why not.

Why not? That is two little words and eight letters worth of genius. So now, you probably are thinking (If you haven't given up reading) 'This girl is a nutter, what is she on about?'

So, what is it like to be an odd socks wearer? Well for me this means I care less and less about what people think about me. I do what I want, instead of what is the 'normal' thing to do or pretending to be something I'm not.

If someone is rude to me or judging me, I take the 'I don't give two sh*ts attitude' because they're probably just insecure themselves and I feel sorry for them rather than being offended. I won't take it to heart, I won't feel upset by it. I wont let it affect me.

Another example is meeting new people, now my closest friends know what I'm like. But those who don't, well, lets just say they were always in for a treat when I felt comfortable around them!

Even with some of my closest friends, I felt like I couldn't be myself around them. I couldn't be me. If I did, sometimes they would give me a weird look and I know they were judging me.

Why should it be that way? The answer. It shouldn't.

So how has it changed? Well now, I am myself, I'm not what everyone else thinks I should be like. I don't pretend to be someone I'm not.

I am a huge Disney freak, I LOVE IT SO MUCH, I have the album which has four CD's full of the songs from the films and I will quite happily sit and watch a Disney film in a regular basis. (See obsessed!) I will now quite happily sit in the common room at school playing the music out loud. I mean the other day in my driving lesson I was singing 'I wanna be like you' (from the Jungle Book) with my driving instructor, why? WELL WHY NOT?

I act exactly how I want to act, whether that's pulling pranks on my friends, listening to the music I like full blast in the kitchen of sixth form, wearing the clothes I want to wear and feel comfortable in, crying and laughing uncontrollably with my best friend even if the cute guy I fancy is watching. Even if that's wearing Odd Socks.

Hope you enjoyed reading this post, comment any suggestions for future posts. Or even comment your own thoughts on this topic, I will read and reply to all of them.

I Recommend ~ Old Tunes

EXCITING NEWS, well for me, maybe not for you. Thanks to this fancy little website called Bloglovin I now have had over 180 views on my Blog, so thank you all so so much if you have read this blog or one of my posts :)
It doesn't matter if that's the once or if you are a regular visitor, I am still extremely grateful! To many of you who may have hundreds of visitors a day to your blog, it may not seem a lot, but to me (some 17 year old general weirdo, who hated English at school and can barely speak properly let alone write a decent blog weekly) its AMAZING.

Alright then Beth, enough of that.

Today's Topic ~ A Little Blast To The Past

This is another 'I Recommend' with today's recommendation being music related once again, so I have always been a big fan of listening to all the 'old tunes' that I listened to in my early teenage years. I often did this on You Tube, but I could never really remember any of the decent songs that was until I found this bad boy.....
Now that my friends, in case you have no idea is an MP3 Player
So this was the first ever Ipod/Mp3 player which I got given for Christmas probably around five years ago, this thing is full of Steps, Busted, McFly, S Club 7, S Club Juniors, Britney Spears. (High Five to those who listened to these people)

Its brilliant, now whenever I go out I will always make sure I have this in my bag and will generally listen to the music on this rather than the 'recent music' on my phone.

Poor Little Baby has taken a slight battering over the years, but it still works perfectly
So I urge anyone reading this to do one thing, go and find your old music devices and listen to any old songs you loved when you were younger, whether that's CD's, Tapes, an Ipod, an MP3 player or even if they're saved on an old computer. Believe me, it made my day to hear all the music which I loved to listen to! I think my favourite being Rihanna's Album Good Girl Gone Bad, give it a listen.

Outfit Of The Night ~ Halloween '14

Happy Halloween Fools

Thought I would do a slightly different OOTN post for you, I recently went to a Halloween Party at one of my closest friends houses and I was pretty impressed with my costume...so why not share it with you guys?!?

The 'party' was a Sixth Form bonding session really, (for those of you who don't know, Sixth Form is a term used in England for the final two years of school before University), the dress code being 'fancy dress' of course.

Now, I didn't fancy doing the standard black cat costume (yes we've all been there and done that!) so instead, I went for the slightly more creepy but still fairly normal choice of a doll outfit.

To create this look, I decided to focus on my make-up rather than the outfit I was actually wearing.

I used fake eyelashes as well as some black out contacts both of which I ordered online for a reasonable price!

For all of the other make-up I just used some eye-shadow  I already had to create a dark smokey eye look. A white pencil eyeliner on my waterline and below it to create the effect of wider 'doll eyes' and a dark lipstick. All of the 'stitches' on my face and neck I drew on using a black liquid eye liner.

To get some inspiration for this look I watched many You Tube videos of 'Creepy Doll Make-Up' before I did my own, but the end result was my own version of those I had watched previously.

For my outfit I wore a pirates dress I already had at home as well as some black over the knee socks and black wedges (side note: my feet have been basically destroyed after wearing the wedges for the whole night, but hey, no pain no gain!)

I hope anyone reading enjoyed this post, and if anyone else would like to share their own Halloween costumes then leave a picture or link in the comments and I will be sure to check them out!!

Boots & Superdrug Haul ~ October '14

Once again I have been absolutely pathetic at posting blogs on a regular basis...when will I learn?!?

But I'm back with a little haul for you :)

A few weeks back I checked my bank account and was extremely surprised when I had been landed with a cheeky bit of holiday pay from work...so what was the first thing I did? INTERNET SHOPPING of course!!!

I wanted to wait a little while before I posted this so I could use the products I had bought and give you a bit of feedback.

Enjoy :) :) :)

Is anyone else as obsessed with Soap and Glory as I am? I think the thing I love most about these shower gels is the fact they are pretty huge in comparison to most shower gels you can buy. Bonus for those who like to save the pennies, they last so much longer and in my opinion are way more cost effective (quick tip: if you use a shower poof you don't have to use as much of the product and it lathers really well!)

With regards to the four scents I bought, I was actually pretty disappointed with two of them.
Sugar Crush is by far my favourite (recommended by Zoella), I also really liked the scent of Foamous which smells very sweet and sugary, kind of like something you would buy in a bakery.
For me I was really disappointed with the smell of Orangeasm, I was most excited to try this one but I actually really don't like the smell. Those of you who have tried it, I don't know if you agree but I think it smells like bathroom cleaner. The Clean Girls scent, isn't awful but once again wasn't as great as I had hoped, it might just be me but all I can smell is PVA glue!

I also decided to restock on my body sprays, I had bought the 'Mist You Madly' scent previously and believe its the perfect fragrance to keep in your handbag (mines in my school bag) just in case you need to use it on the move.
The second bottle is a spray on moisturizer, I actually didn't realise this until I used it. (packaging can be very deceiving) But this is a lovely product and useful for lazy people like me who cant be bothered to moisturize like any normal person would!

First of all I would just like to applaud Zoella on her incredible new range, not even biased this stuff is amazing! I think out of the three products I bought my favourite is the Fizz Bar, no word of a lie the scent is incredible and once it was in the bath my whole bathroom smelt of it for the next hour.

I haven't actually managed to try out the two face washes yet but I can assure you, they smell very nice. I was drawn to these face washes in particular because of the tea tree element in them, to cut a long story short I have problematic skin so anything that could help is a bonus to me.

The final two items I bought were two moisturizers, one for day and the other for night. I have been using these for around two weeks now and wow I can definitely say I can see a difference in my skin. It feels so much softer and generally nicer than before as well as feeling hydrated for a longer period of time, another bonus is that the day cream has SPF 15 which protects your skin against sun damage (bonus!) All round these two creams are perfect for those on a budget but still want something to use that is worthwhile.

Outfit Of The Night ~ September '14

Cheeky Midweek post coming your way....

Hello to you people reading this...before you think I have gone crazy. Yes I am aware it is halfway into October and this post says September. F*ck Logic Guys okay?!?

Most people will do an OOTD post, but as always I don't stick to the norm, I like to switch it up a bit. Also my 'day clothes' are usually: school uniform, work uniform or pyjamas. So I'm not too sure you'll actually want to see that, so an outfit of the night is probably more appropriate here.

On this occasion I was just going out for a curry. (I actually hate curry, but my family and friends love it) Generally if I go out I will always wear a pair of skinny jeans, but on this night for some reason I decided to push the boat out a tiny amount and wear a simple black skirt (I'm Crazy I know!)

I also opted for a simple cropped t-shirt, tights and some form of trainer/wedge things. I am completely in love with this t-shirt, I have worn it quite a bit since I bought it a few weeks ago. Its perfect for me because it is cropped but not so it shows my belly, but also it is a fairly 'boxy' shape which is a bonus for me because I am a big fan of baggier tops. I actually bought this in a UK size 12, although I am a size 8-10, purely because of the fact I like my t-shirts a bit baggier and also cropped because I am pretty short and so longer T-shirts don't really suit me.

So I didn't actually manage to get any 'decent photos' but here are a few that I did take...hope you enjoy :)

T-Shirt ~ £10 BANK
Black Skirt ~ £8 Matalan
High Top Shoes ~ £40 River Island
So you can't see very well but I did my make-up using cranberry eye-shadow shades. Maybe one day I will do it again and post a picture...possibly.
At the pub before the meal.Cheeky selfie

I also wore my beloved Studded Leather Jacket, because in England it is cold and wearing a jacket is the best option if you want to avoid hypothermia. Almost anyone who knows me will agree that I wear this jacket almost all of the time, it is quite a few years old now but has lasted really well considering it is not real leather.

Studded Leather Jacket ~ £50 BANK

Thank You for Reading :)

I Recommend ~ Music ~ I

I intended to post this on Sunday, but I forgot -_-

Anyways....Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening...It could be any point of the day which you are reading this so I've now covered them all :)

NEW IDEA ALERT

Instead of doing a monthly favourites kind of thing, I have decided to do a semi-regular post called 'I recommend'

First reason for this is that basically I don't think I am mentally capable of putting together a list of things I have enjoyed over a month, also I  may find it hard to do one every month due to other commitments so I didn't want to dedicate myself to doing a 'Monthly Favourites'

Instead you may just see a random blog post pop up here and there if I am particularly enjoying something at that moment in time. This could be in the form of: music, films, books, make-up, clothes or even food. (There will most probably be an item of food on a regular basis.)

So lets start off with a particular artist//new album that has been released recently. This is the band Lower Than Atlantis, with their album Lower Than Atlantis (no that wasn't a typo, they obviously just ran out of ideas for album names or enjoyed their band name quite a lot)

This album is AMAZING, I understand that this type of music isn't to everyone's taste but you should probably listen to it anyway....just in case. They are a British 'post hardcore, alternative rock band with roots in the punk scene.'

Personal favourite songs from the album: Here We Go, English Kids in America & Emily.

I hope that you enjoy this style of blog post...as always I am open to any suggestions//comments you may have :)
